The Wonderful Wizard of OZ - Illustrated - Oz Books #1
by Bjorn Blakstad
This edition of The Wonderful Wizard of OZ was illustrated by Bjorn Blakstad. After the popular film released in 1939, illustrated editions of the book have featured the well known designs of Baums creations as imagined by Victor Flemming (Dir.); Blakstad however has taken the book and reimagined the cast through the lense of his Nordic heritage and his fascination with the occult and the weird.

Unlike the film, the characters of the original book are twisted and complex, and their odyssey through the bizarre land of OZ has the party of outcasts encounter fantastically strange and terrifying challenges and creatures.

The illustrations are dark, childish and most importantly Wonderful.

Bjorn Blakstad is a trans artist and illustrator, born in South London and living in Glasgow with his cat and several plants. The Wonderful Wizard of OZ, and colouring book are his debut illustrated works, and the first of Erebus Society's collection of Baums books of OZ, each illustrated by unique and individual artists.
